Down by the creek

As children, my sibs and I were babysat on a farm. We (among the other kids) helped collect eggs, feed the animals, butcher chickens, clean out barns, and there were acres upon acres to explore. We were never bored. For the most part, it was a wonderful experience.

When summer days on the farm got really hot; our babysitter would pack a picnic lunch, load all of us in the back of a pickup truck, and drive us to the creek to play. I'll never forget the taste of her pb&j sammy's made with her homemade strawberry jam, the homemade applesauce, the sweeter than sweet kool-aid, and the delicious homemade pickles.

This summer was certainly one of the driest and hottest in Ohio. The kiddo's got a little tired of playing in their little pool every day so I decided to take them and Hubs to the creek for a change of pace. They LOVED it!

Next summer, we'll definitely be hitting the creek more often. It's so cool to be able to share a piece of my childhood with them.
