Friday Night Fun

Since the weather has been beautiful this month and Turner has energy pouring out of him; we've started a new routine. Every Friday after dinner we head to the local ice cream shop and indulge in mountains of soft-serve and hand-dipped treats. We've allowed Turner to try cones with sprinkles, sundae's, and parfait's. His all-time favorite is a hand-dipped Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream cone. Coincidentally, that's my favorite too. We figured it out after we got him a sprinkled cone and let him try my mint chocolate chip ice cream. Long story short, I didn't ever get my cone back and had to settle for sprinkles. (not a big fan btw)

After we fill our bellies with ice cream, we go to the local elementary school and play on the playground so Turner can burn some energy and Tanner and I can burn some calories chasing him around. Turner loves to climb! He'll play on the teeter-totters (finding it necessary to sit on every seat) then we move to the slides, but he enjoys climbing up the equipment the most. There is a little bridge he likes to run across and we finish off our activities with a ride on a swing. He usually cries when we leave, but by then he's filthy and tired and we have yet to give him a bath, go through our nighttime routine of books and Baby Einstein, then retire to the nursery around 9:15.

He refuses to go to sleep before his room is dark. We've considered using darkening blinds, but with Fall approaching we know it will be getting dark earlier and soon we won't have to worry about it.

I am already anxious about how Turner is going to be able to burn all of his energy this winter. I know we will be able to take him outside for awhile, but what will we do when it's really cold and windy? Any suggestions? Lot's of Benedryl? Kidding. (maybe)

  2. Mom gave me two sets of blackout blinds that she got at a garage sale. They are super nice but don't fit any of my windows...much to my disappointment. Measure his windows and let me know what size they are. They are a light ivory color.
